Weekly Devotion: Triumphant Entry

The Narrative of Jesus’ Life

The below account occurs as Jesus is entering Jerusalem for the final time.

Excerpt from the Gospel

John 12: 12 The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. 13 So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” 14 And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, 15 “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!”

Sharing your Faith

  • What is the implication of the crowd crying out, “…even the King of Israel”?
  • The palm branches were brought as symbols of Jesus’ royalty. How do we demonstrate Jesus is our Lord and King today?
  • Share about an experience where you were especially in awe of God.

Pray for One Another

Each person is invited to share a prayer request. Another participant will volunteer to offer the petition. Once everyone has chosen a prayer request, take turns offering the prayers aloud.
